SUMMARY:

Our Extrusion Tooling Commercialization team is looking for a technician that will participate in the development of new extrusion tooling and processes for newly designed or modified Fibrex® wood plastic composite and vinyl profiles. This will include using demonstrated problem solving techniques, process adjustments, and tooling modifications as necessary to meet customer requirements.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform cross functional work on multiple concurrent tooling commercialization projects in cooperation with engineering, quality, and operations.
  • Participate in engineering discussions to ensure all design intent, inspection criteria, and specifications are understood and met.
  • Work directly with the Supervisor/Lead, Engineering, Technicians and Maintenance to communicate problems and to resolve complex issues.
  • Perform production qualification and test material runs including part collection, measurement, and capability assessments.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of process and tooling changes, notes, and samples throughout tooling development and qualification runs.
  • Assist in training and troubleshooting for profile specific processes to ensure successful handoff to production operations.
  • Learn and perform machining and welding tasks required to tune and maintain extrusion tooling.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Able to assess a situation and determine if polymer flow or profile issue is machine, process, or tooling related and take corrective actions.
  • Strong aptitude in problem solving and process improvement.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and process procedures
  • Ability and skills to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Effective use of Microsoft Office
  • Schedule flexibility required with regular travel between regional MN sites and occasional travel out of state as required by project activity.
  • Must work in safe manner and follow all policies and best practices in 5S

MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in profile extrusion process and/or tooling
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing quality systems and profile measurement systems/software

NICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Machining, welding, or tool and die maintenance training or exposure preferred.
  • 2 year degree in technology program or relevant experience preferred.
  • Experience of Cad software use preferred or ability/willingness to learn

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS SUMMARY:

Must be able to stand for 8-10 hours/day

Must be able to lift 100 lbs


Successful candidates in this role are expected to earn $27.25-$39.55 hourly.

PROFIT SHARING: In 2025 Andersen has set a profit sharing target of $3,500 per eligible employee, prorated as appropriate. Profit sharing will be paid out in quarterly installments to provide eligible employees with payments throughout the year, with payment amounts tied to quarterly operating profit performance.
