The Enterprise RD&I Building Science and Installation (BSI) Competency Team defines the technical strategy for successful integration of Andersen Windows and Doors into the building envelope. The BSI Engineer partners with Window and Door Product Development teams to ensure product designs can be installed to meet building performance requirements and contributes to the development of a strategy to apply Building Science principles across Andersen Business units. This Engineer applies first-principles scientific theory and sound engineering practices to lead development and validation of installation methods that will be successful now and in the future.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as a technical subject matter expert on the building envelope advancing organizational knowledge of current and future wall constructions and building materials and providing guidance for design for Installation.
- Document and drive standardization of Installation Methods across the product portfolio.
- Enhance existing and develop new Installation Methods, recommending successful assemblies and solutions that work with both current and future constructions and materials.
- Create and fully develop concepts for innovative installation practices or accessories that satisfy customer needs.
- Gain alignment with Product Application Specialists and Business Unit teams on organizational installation strategy for existing and new products.
- Identify, modify, and develop test methods to ensure product and system performance within multiple building envelopes and in a wide variety of environmental conditions.
- Partner with Architectural Services team to recommend technical solutions for unique rough opening preparation, building structural integration, water management and air management strategies, or other installation or Building Science-related technical challenges.
- Works independently under general managerial direction. Manages own workflow, setting priorities and negotiating deivery of work to meet project or customer expectations. Proactively mentors and coaches less experienced team members. Organizes peer involvement in large projects and evaluating work. Facilitates cross-functional team engagement.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Completed professional degree in Architecture, 4-year degree in Engineering, or Building Science program
- Minimum of 8 years of Engineering or other technical Building Science experience
- Excellent verbal and written technical presentation and communication skills, with proficient knowledge of MS Office suite of tools.
- Experience in leadership of cross-functional project team preferred.
- Experience in design, test and evaluation, or forensic investigation of residential or light commercial buildings including the integration of windows and doors into building envelopes.
COMPENSATION: Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to work experience, education, geographic location, certifications, etc. Your recruiter can share more about the specific compensation package for your preferred role during the hiring process. Successful candidates in this role are expected to earn $99,216 - $153,784.
