The Portfolio Manager is responsible for overseeing the strategic alignment, prioritization, and execution of projects and programs across the technology and data team . This role ensures that all initiatives within the portfolio deliver value, meet business objectives, and are executed efficiently. The Portfolio Manager partners closely with technology and data leaders, program managers, and project teams to drive transparency, governance, and performance.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Lead the planning and management of the technology and data project portfolio, ensuring alignment with the strategic goals of the organization.
· Evaluate and prioritize projects based on business value, risk, resource availability, and ROI.
· Collaborate with senior leadership to define portfolio governance and decision-making frameworks.
· Monitor portfolio performance, track KPIs, and provide regular reporting to stakeholders.
· Identify interdependencies, risks, and resource constraints across programs and projects.
· Facilitate portfolio review meetings and support strategic planning cycles.
· Partner with Finance, HR, and IT to ensure accurate forecasting and resource planning.
· Drive continuous improvement in portfolio management processes, tools, and reporting.
· Support change management and communication efforts related to portfolio initiatives.
· Partner closely with the delivery manager to understand current projects, status and governance enhancements.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
· Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, or related field (Master’s preferred).
· 7+ years of experience in project/program/portfolio management.
· Strong understanding of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid).
· Experience with portfolio management tools (e.g., Smartsheet, Clarity, Planview, Jira).
· Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
· PMP, PgMP, or PfMP certification is a plus.
· Agile certification is a plus.
· Strategic thinker with a strong business acumen.
· Skilled at balancing competing priorities and navigating ambiguity.
· Collaborative leader who builds trust across functions.
· Data-driven decision-maker with a focus on outcomes and value delivery.
COMPENSATION
Pay is based on several factors, including but not limited to work experience, education, geographic location, certifications, etc. Your recruiter can share more about the specific compensation package for your preferred role during the hiring process. Successful candidates in this role are expected to earn $108,941 per year to $168,859 per year.
