A Product Development Engineer acts is a key contributor or technical lead for small projects. This engineer also contributes as a team member on a project team with larger scope and introduces ideas and solutions to satisfy customer requirements. Performs work independently through foundational engineering skills to determine feasibility and validate concepts. Designs, collects, analyzes, and reports on experimental studies and/or new technologies. Shows independent creativity and initiative for new business or organizational contributions. Contributes to discussions and decisions on overall project objectives with supervisor and other cross functional areas.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Focuses on coordinating and leading design-based projects and efforts with other functional areas.
• Develops concepts related to satisfying a customer need and presents cost/benefit analysis while facilitating a small team to support the objective.
• Develops and presents reports summarizing technical analysis and business case to peer group and management audiences.
• Effectively communicates with internal and external customers and staff.
• Analyzes and recommends engineering or design solutions for product, process, design, or other technical challenges.
• Capable of leading cross-functional teams with a well-defined challenge, scope and objective.
• Understands foundation of corporate identity and business needs as applied to projects/assignments.
MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:
• Completed 4-year degree in Engineering or Physics based program
• Strong aptitude in process improvement, problem solving, technical execution and project management
• Experienced knowledge of lean, manufacturing, design, and quality systems
• 1-3 years engineering or technical experience
NICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience as design or project lead of a cross functional engineering team
• 2D and 3D CAD experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, or equivalent software
• Experience working through a gated design review process
• Basic understanding of GD&T, drawing, and quality standards
• Demonstrated ability with dimensional engineering and tolerance/variation analysis
• Experience designing and developing new parts using injection molding, extrusion, machining, or die cast processes
• Effective technical presentation and communication skills
COMPENSATION: Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to work experience, education, geographic location, certifications, etc. Your recruiter can share more about the specific compensation package for your preferred role during the hiring process. Successful candidates in this role are expected to earn $77,255 - $119,745.
