SUMMARY 

The Ongoing Product Development Engineering Manager is a key role within the Research Development and Innovation (RD&I) Team. 

The Engineering Manager will execute moderately complex product development projects with little supervision in addition to providing technical direction to the team.  The Manager will have direct supervision over design engineers and/or CAD designers and technicians.  The Manager will additionally have responsibility to ensure that we meet design intent on current production as well as anticipated changes to production within the current Cottage Grove RbA facility as well as our future facility in Locust Grove, GA.

The Manager will not only have a strong relationship with and work closely with operations, but will also collaborate with senior and peer managers, external suppliers, manufacturing, quality, marketing, finance, sales, service, packaging engineering, materials engineering, legal, and code and regulatory.  The Manager will also work with our extensive retail network.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide technical coaching (project planning & execution, problem solving, mechanical design analysis, test plan design, results analysis) to direct reports.
  • Identify and deliver product design support and solutions targeted at business growth and operational excellence in safety, quality, delivery, and cost in the manufacture of window and door products.
  • Create positive momentum on teams and deliver results (projects, tasks, people development).  Specifically ensure the team has the support they need to be successful.
  • Establish and nurture an environment conducive to high levels of morale, employee satisfaction, and performance.
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of inputs in situations where limited standardization and data exists.
  • Able to manage projects and provide detailed coaching on managing projects – ensuring success criteria are defined and delivered upon and creating and adhering to detailed timelines.
  • Act as a liaison to coordinate and manage enterprise RD&I initiatives.
  • Provide support to cross-functional initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS 

  • BS in mechanical engineering or equivalent mechanical engineering experience
  • 10 years of experience in R&D design experience
  • 2+ years of experience in and passion for leading and developing a high-performance team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies with demonstrated ability to drive product development projects to completion
  • Self-motivated with strong intellectual curiosity
  • Knowledge of Stage Gate Product Development Processes, design specification and documentation methods
  • Expected travel of <20%

In 2024, Andersen has set a profit-sharing target of $4,000 per eligible employee, prorated as appropriate. Profit sharing will be paid out in quarterly installments to provide eligible employees with payments throughout the year, with payment amounts tied to quarterly operating profit performance.
