MACHINIST JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operates and maintains metal working machinery that could include the following: CNC milling centers, wire EDM’s, manual mills, manual lathes, welding, drill presses and forklift operations.
- Perform a variety of tasks such as layouts, machine set-ups, machining, inspection, and assembly of parts.
- Reviews drawings, instructions, blueprints, or samples to ensure accurate production.
- Ability to select and apply the necessary tooling and machining practices.
- Selects appropriate machine and operations for a given task and plans proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment.
- Maintains a safe and clean workstation.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing and communicating related tasks as needed.
- Responsibility for in-process quality checks such as inspecting work in progress to maintain dimensions and other quality requirements.
POSITION SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
- At least 2 years of prior employment in a machine shop environment or a trade or technical school degree or experience is highly recommended.
- Experience with tool and die making.
- Ability to use measuring instruments (micrometer, calipers, pin gauges etc.).
- Ability to handle physical workload which includes: the regular exposure to noise and oils and varying temperatures. Ability to lift/pull up to fifty (50) pounds, to stand for long periods of time, and to wear personal protective equipment,
- Ability to accurately read blueprints for various tooling components and processes.
- Ability to read and write, perform basic arithmetic, and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.
- Work involves frequent lifting of materials and product up to 50lbs.
- Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle and/or adjust equipment. Moderate reaching, pushing, pulling, gripping and grasping.
- Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel toed work boots or shoes.
Occasional overtime work may be required to meet business demands. Will be exposed to diverse manufacturing environments, noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, and other hazardous and non-hazardous material.
SAFETY:
Proper PPE to be worn while on the shop floor, including safety glassed, hearing protection, long pants, steel toe boots; no loose or baggy clothing.
COMPENSATION:
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to work experience, education, geographic location, certifications, etc. Your recruiter can share more about the specific compensation package for your preferred role during the hiring process.
Successful candidates in this role are expected to earn between $24.55/hr - $35.55/hr.
