You’ll manage the trailer lot, load and unload equipment, and support production and shipping/receiving tasks. The yard driver will be expected to safely and efficiently operate powered industrial trucks and motorized yard trucks and all attachments while transporting materials inside and outside the facility. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support and follow all roles/guidelines/standards for Safety, Quality, and AMS functions as set by your leader and position
- Manage trailer lot for organization and equipment upkeep to standards
- Load and unload trailers and storage racks, etc. Operate simple hand and power tools
- Support production and/or shipping/receiving operations to achieve optimum efficiencies while working in a safe manner
- Must be able to perform and rotate responsibilities within department as needed
- Communication with supervisor, shipping and receiving clerk, and transportation drivers
- Inspect trailers that arrive for damage. Move trailers and stage them to dock
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Class A CDL license with no violations allowed within the last 3 years. CDL must stay up to date
- Must pass physical for DOT Card
- High school diploma or GED
- Study and pass written test and driving test for motorized vehicles including but not limited to propane and/or electric forklifts
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Able to hook/unhook various commercial vehicle combinations, manually lower and raise landing gear, operate the fifth wheel lever, lock and release pintle-hooks, attach and release safety chains, open and close cargo doors, climb into and off of vehicles, fuel vehicles and check engine oil coolant levels.
- Ability to perform squatting or crouching to handle position and secure windows and doors.
- Able to perform pushing or pulling of windows and doors weighing up to 100 pounds on a dolly or cart.
- Able to carry windows and doors weighing up to 50 pounds of varying size and shape and occasionally carry windows and doors weighing up to 100 pounds.
- Able to reach for cargo above shoulder level, at waist level and below waist level for maneuvering and directing the controls to operate the truck.
Successful candidates in this role are expected to earn $24.10 - $30.13
