SUMMARY
The Ongoing Product Development Engineering Lead/Supervisor located in Cottage Grove, MN is a key role within the Renewal by Andersen Research Development and Innovation (RD&I) team.  The Engineering Lead/Supervisor will execute more complex product development projects with little supervision in addition to providing technical direction to the team.  The Lead/Supervisor will have direct supervision over other design engineers and/or CAD designers and technicians.  The Engineering Lead/Supervisor will not only have a strong relationship with and work closely with operations, but will also collaborate with senior and peer managers, external suppliers, manufacturing, quality, marketing, finance, sales, service, packaging engineering, materials engineering, legal, and code and regulatory.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Execute product design projects fulfilling both project leader and product design roles.
  • Provide technical coaching (project planning & execution, problem solving, mechanical design analysis, test plan design, results analysis) to direct reports.
  • Identify and deliver product design support and solutions targeted at business growth and operational excellence in safety, quality, delivery, and cost in the manufacture of window and door products.
  • Create positive momentum on teams and deliver results (projects, tasks, people development).
  • Establish and nurture an environment conducive to high levels of morale, employee satisfaction, and performance.
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of inputs in situations where limited standardization and data exists. 
  • Able to manage projects and provide detailed coaching on managing projects – ensuring success criteria are defined and delivered upon and creating and adhering to detailed timelines.
  • Act as a liaison to coordinate and manage enterprise RD&I initiatives and provide support to cross-functional initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
 
MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS
  • BS in mechanical engineering or equivalent mechanical engineering experience
  • 5-7 years of experience in R&D design experience
  • Experience in and passion for leading and developing a high-performance team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies with demonstrated ability to drive product development projects to completion
  • Self-motivated with strong intellectual curiosity
NICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of Product Development Process (PDP), design specification and documentation methods

In 2023, Andersen has set a profit-sharing target of $4,000 per eligible employee, prorated as appropriate. Profit sharing will be paid out in quarterly installments to provide eligible employees with payments throughout the year, with payment amounts tied to quarterly operating profit performance.
