POSITION SUMMARY:
The Ongoing Product Development Engineer will be responsible for supporting manufacturing and operations by ensuring design intent is met in production. The Engineer will act as team leader for smaller projects and as a team member on more difficult and complex projects. Work will focus on providing value through improvements to design, quality, cost and delivery of the product line.
Designs, collects, analyzes, and reports on experimental studies and/or new technologies. Shows independent creativity and initiative for new business or organizational contributions. Contributes significantly to discussions and decisions on overall project objectives with managers and other functional areas.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Focuses on coordinating and leading activities on technical projects and assignments.
- Collaborate with operations, external suppliers, manufacturing, quality, service, packaging engineering, and materials engineering.
- Develops and presents reports summarizing technical analysis to peer groups and managers.
- Effectively communicates with all levels of internal and external customers and staff.
- Analyzes and recommends engineering or design solutions for product, process, design, or other technical challenges.
- Capable of leading cross-functional teams having broader, less-defined initial objective and scope.
- Ability to utilize mechanical design analysis tools and develop test plans to quickly problem solve. ·
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completed 4-year BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent program
- Strong aptitude in process improvement, problem solving, technical execution and project management
- Basic knowledge of lean, manufacturing, design, and quality systems
- Demonstrates understanding of relevant methodologies and tools (e.g. SPC, ERP, DMAIC)
- 1-5 years engineering or technical experience
NICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience as design or project lead of a cross functional engineering team
- 2D and 3D CAD experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, or equivalent software
- Experience working through a gated design review process
- Strong understanding of GD&T, drawing, and quality standards
- Demonstrated ability with dimensional engineering and tolerance/variation analysis
- Experience designing and developing new parts using injection molding, extrusion, machining, or die cast processes
- Effective technical presentation and communication skills
- 3-5 years engineering or technical experience
COMPENSATION: Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to work experience, education, geographic location, certifications, etc. Your recruiter can share more about the specific compensation package for your preferred role during the hiring process. Successful candidates in this role are expected to earn $88,235 - $136,765.
