ANDERSEN CORPORATION SUMMARY:
The Logistics Planner utilizes transportation and logistics software systems applicable to site specific to support and coordinate the delivery process. Must communicate effectively across internal and external customers, as well as employees at all levels of the enterprise. Relies on training experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and perform a variety of complicated tasks.
· Utilizing site systems/process to develop the optimal delivery routes to meet customer delivery appt times at the lowest cost.
· Ensures loads are scheduled (Local, out of state, will calls, and containers by others) dispatched, communicated to customer, and delivered to the customer/factory on time, using the most economical method of transportation
· Schedules fleet drivers and contract carriers based on DOT regulations, company policy, and carrier vendor availability.
· Must be able to resolve conflicts and issues independently without supervision.
· Communicate effectively with supervisors, company management, and carrier vendor representatives.
· Support the management of the actual logistics cost to achieve the budget.
· Support the plant objectives to meet Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost targets while enhancing employee morale.
· Responsible in tracking, coordinating, and supporting new/revised agreements for third party assets such as trailers, tractors, and dollies.
· Evaluate, report, and manage contract carrier and private fleet driver performance.
· Drive continuous improvement efforts around delivery process, support CI initiatives throughout the plant.
· Communicates and identifies with customer jobsite conditions
· Leads Job Status Meeting, collaborates with production manager and supply chain reviewing projects in house, delivery schedule and production delays
· Reaches out and responds to all customer inquiries regarding project status, lead times, and delays
· Collaborates with the production floor daily to provide necessary direction, and documents for shipments/deliveries/Will calls
· Prepares BOLs, all delivery paperwork and follows up on invoices for payment
· Provides custom freight quotes to quoting team for special items, i.e. oversized, containers, etc..
· Makes special shipping arrangements as necessary
· Bachelor’s degree operations related field preferred and or two-year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Ability to effectively present information verbally and written communication in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
· Conflict resolution skills to manage customer expectations and provide effectives solutions
· Solid financial aptitude.
· Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
· Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability in a fast-paced environment is necessary.
· Ability to give directions to professional drivers.
· Proficient Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
· Familiar with logistics computer systems including TMS, Appian, PeopleNet, and AirClic
