Description & Requirements

To efficiently dispose of waste wood by operating the wood hog and controlling the level of the sawdust and shaving vaults.

  • Perform a controlled start up shut down of the entire filter system.
  • Operate and troubleshoot filter system grid and related equipment.
  • Monitor and keep sufficient supply of fuel by hogging waste.
  • Provide crossing for use in production by cutting waste.
  • Keeps court area clean by good housekeeping.
  • Controls levels of sawdust, shavings, storage, and ten storage vaults for boiler fuel and Fibrex.
  • Operates sawdust loading equipment, clean and dirty.
  • Controls levels of silos on north end of factory.
  • Provides proper operator maintenance and lubrication of hogs and related equipment.
  • Back up for Roof Utility Worker.
  • Provide backup for snow removal.
  • Occasionally directs filter bag crews.
  • Monitor/report daily weights to S.G.F.
  • Monitor VFDs continuously.
  • Must start/stop all systems as needed for operations/energy savings/after fires and Sunday night.
  • Working knowledge of filter system grid and sequence for filter system blower/pumps for material flow
  • Perform a controlled start up shut down of the entire filter system.
  • Troubleshoot grid problems.
  • Perform diverting of grid system based on systems in operation to optimize efficiencies.
  • Must know how to operate and feed wood hog and related equipment.
  • Must know fuel supply requirements, wood fuel vs. gas.
  • Must have a complete knowledge of our vault systems and storage silos, and sawdust loading equipment.
  • Must know how to perform lubrication and do some minor repair work on filter and vault systems.
  • Must have basic knowledge and operational skills of Grecon/Pyroguard system and filter system grid.
  • Carries out similar and related duties of the job.

Physical Requirements:

  • Pushes and dumps heavy wood boxes and wood carts into the hog
  • Continuously – lift /carry 10 – 100 pounds
  • Occasionally – Squat, crawl, crawl, lifts very heavy material
  • Occasionally shovel many tons of sawdust
