Andersen Corporation is seeking a self-motivated RDI Test Wall Technician Lead - 2nd Shift to support an energetic group of Research, Development & Innovation (RD&I) Engineers that lead projects focused on window and door products. This is up to a 18 month opportunity for a second shift Monday – Thursday position.

Shift hours: 2:00 pm – 12:30 am (m-th) Hours can vary based on training, workload, and PTO.

 PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install window & door units per installation methods for all Andersen Corporation product lines. This includes building buck fixtures and ensuring nominal installs are plumb, level, square.
  • Perform window & door tests using LabVIEW software for Air Infiltration, Water Penetration and Structural loading (ASTM E283, E330, E331, E547, F588, TAS 201, 202, 203).
  • Collect the testing data in network folders, Excel spreadsheets, and the Work Request Log. Ensure all samples get recorded in the Test Wall Log accurately, the test request folders get updated with relevant files and work requests get closed in a timely manner.
  • Provide status updates on testing work requests to Leaders and Engineers referencing work request logs and e-mails.
  • Perform tensile, compression, bend, peel, tear, shear, and other mechanical tests using the Instron or MTS machines.
  • Complete material handling as needed (coordinating trailers, clearing the dock, and maintaining the product staging swim lanes).
  • Operates the Quattro unit lift, overhead hoist, walkie riders and fork-lifts.
  • Maintain and calibrate testing equipment.
  • Work independently with direction from engineers to test units and materials in support of their project work.
  • Prepare samples for testing using saws and other shop equipment.
  • Follow established or create new procedures to test materials.
  • Work effectively as a team member and manage multiple priorities.
  • Maintain an organized and clean work environment.
  • Follow required safety and environmental procedures.

MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Working experience of installing window & door units for all Andersen Corporation product lines. This includes building buck fixtures and ensuring nominal installs are plumb, level, square.
  • PIT Certified to operate the Quattro unit lift, overhead hoist, walkie riders and fork-lifts.
  • Perform window & door tests using LabVIEW software for Air Infiltration, Water Penetration and Structural loading (ASTM E283, E330, E331, E547, F588, TAS 201, 202, 203).
  • High school diploma / GED / Equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of experience working in a laboratory, job shop, or production environment.
  • Ability to follow the department and corporate safety guidelines.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong aptitude in analysis and problem solving.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, LabVIEW, Instron, and MTS).
  • Ability to be physical active during the shift that includes: standing for long periods, lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, climbing stair-ladders, etc.
  • In-depth knowledge of window and door products.
  • Working knowledge of window and door installations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work flexible hours if testing needs require it (occasional).
  • Capability to operate the RDI company truck (passing and complying with the company’s fleet vehicle requirements).

NICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2-year degree in Technology or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and assist with written documentation.
  • Advanced knowledge of window and door products.
  • Advanced knowledge of window and door installations.

PROFIT SHARING

During 2022, each eligible Andersen employee will receive $1,000 for each full fiscal quarter they are actively employed and fully vaccinated against COVID-19. An eligible employee hired during a quarter will receive a prorated payment based on the number of days employed during the quarter. Those eligible include fully-vaccinated regular full-time and part-time employees (at least 20 hours per week) who are not subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
