Position:  Storm Door Division Quality Engineer – Engineer II

This engineer will be working collaboratively with project and shop floor operation teams to deliver products and assembly capabilities that meet the quality promise we make to our customers.  This role will have a significant impact on the profitability of the Storm Door Division and the experience our customers have through its products!

Position Overview:

This engineering position will provide quality support by working with members of new product development, ongoing product development, commercialization, and operational plant support teams. The ideal candidate will be a motivated individual who can ensure that product components and finished product meet expectations, within the project timeline.

Position Responsibilities:

Provide quality engineering support including:

  • Ability to make critical decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Support shop floor quality requests and material assessments
  • Responsibility for First Article and PPAP submittals for new product development projects
  • Ability to gather and analyze data through statistical techniques
  • Design and assess fabrication and assembly equipment capability studies
  • Understand tolerance stack up and relation to process capability
  • Participating in gauge procurement and design reviews
  • Participating in equipment design reviews
  • Able to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and standards and convert into manufacturing control plans and work instructions
  • Implementing SPC within the production lines
  • Drive corrective action through root cause identification and structured problem solving using the quality toolkit: PDCA, A3, DOE, 5-Why, Fish Bone Diagram, Lean Sigma, DMAIC
  • Expertise in advocating, coaching and training others toward process improvement
  • Leading and participating in Process Failure Mode and Affect Analysis (PFMEA) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) reviews
  • Ownership of the Division quality metrics
  • Strong knowledge of quality management and lean manufacturing principles
  • Error Proofing, Eyes for Waste, Visual Management

Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Engineering or Technology
  • 1-3 years experience in a manufacturing, continuous process environment required
  • Functional AutoCAD skills, geometric tolerancing
  • Knowledge of PFMEA, quality programs, SPC, process capability and lean manufacturing principles
  • Demonstrated performance in the use of Excel and Minitab to analyze data to detect trends and abnormalities
  • Working knowledge of measurement tools and systems

Work Requirements:

  • Must be willing to travel up to 25% when required

Profit Sharing:

During 2022, each eligible Andersen employee will receive $1,000 for each full fiscal quarter they are actively employed and fully vaccinated against COVID-19. An eligible employee hired during a quarter will receive a prorated payment based on the number of days employed during the quarter. Those eligible include fully-vaccinated regular full-time and part-time employees (at least 20 hours per week) who are not subject to a collective bargaining agreement. These and other terms and conditions of Andersen’s 2022 Profit Sharing Plan, including the definition of full vaccination against COVID-19, are subject to change or termination without notice.
