PURPOSE: 

To manage a sound, cost effective maintenance program of preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance integrated into the PSCA and DHWP plant operations to minimize unscheduled equipment downtime.  Achieve this goal by developing Maintenance Excellence (MEx) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) programs throughout Bayport manufacturing.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage, mentor, and motivate direct reports, providing training and development to optimize their performance and personal growth.  Communicate performance standards and expectations to associates, recognizing and rewarding individual and team accomplishments and counseling performance problems.
  • Manage continuous improvement initiatives through the use of Maintenance Excellence (MEx), TPM, Lean, RCM and PdM.
  • Provide plant managers with the necessary reports, metric measurements, progress of work orders, planned work, repetitive problems and anything necessary to manage the facility.
  • Establish, justify, monitor, analyze, control and correct maintenance budgets.
  • Meet with team leaders to continuously improve the department’s service level.
  • Ensure maintenance support is available as needed so service calls and machinery repairs are completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that all necessary systems are in place to execute the work order system, planning and scheduling, preventive and predictive maintenance activities.
  • Utilize metric reports to manage.
  • Maintain and update maintenance performance indicators and measures for continuous improvement analysis.
  • Perform long-range planning to forecast maintenance needs.
  • Develop policies and procedures related to maintenance and safety.
  • Establish and maintain process for continuous improvement.
  • Implement solutions that enhance the overall effectiveness of the operation.
  • Evaluate and improve maintenance performance by continually reducing maintenance downtime, while reducing maintenance costs.
  • Optimize effectiveness of the workforce during operating periods requiring fluctuating number of resources and changing priorities.
  • Ensure equipment integrity and reliability.
  • Discuss and coordinate major maintenance and capital projects with engineering.
  • Collaborate with and assist engineers in project design and implementation.
  • Identify and implement initiatives to minimize waste during maintenance.
  • Proactively improve processes and strive for enhanced levels of efficiency.
  • Train subordinates as needed in EAMS functionality.
  • Work with maintenance associates to ensure training needs are identified and addressed.
  • Assign and integrate maintenance personnel into multifunctional operations teams.
  • Maintain collaborative relationship with all other departments.
  • Assure appropriate resources, necessary tools, and equipment for maintenance personnel to perform their functions.
  • Constantly promote and improve a safety culture.
  • Direct the work of the crew to ensure compliance with federal, state and local codes (fire, building, electrical, etc.)
  • Direct the work of outside contactors and crews.
  • Establish relationships with vendors.  Negotiate prices and contracts, order materials and supplies, and receive materials.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Encourage feedback from technicians for suggestions to improve production and/or maintenance equipment and procedures.
  • Maintain good relations with your crew to help secure efficient operation and high morale.
  • Assist in preparing major equipment bids, recommending purchase when replacement or new equipment is required.  Represent the company’s position and interest in dealing with outside contractors, vendors, and engineering consultants. 
  • Ensure Maintenance Department compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related responsibilities, as needed, to support Andersen Corporation business objectives.

DIRECTION OF OTHERS: 

Manage maintenance planners, lead technicians and maintenance technicians in the PSCA and DHWP plants, direct the work of outside contractor’s to a maintenance plan that promotes the importance of a safe and reliable operation.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong analytical and technical skills.
  • Excellent problem solving and trouble shooting skills.
  • Experience leading and working with personnel in areas of development and coaching, career opportunities, performance evaluations and feedback, staffing plans, recruitment, employee conflict resolution, human relations, etc.
  • Must be a highly organized, self-motivated person who can work effectively as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Experience working within a Lean Manufacturing concept and TPM environment.
  • Strong ability to communicate with and influence all levels of an organization.
  • Demonstrated experience with change management.
  • Technical abilities include knowledge of trouble shooting with in areas of mechanical, electrical, electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics and fabrication.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Five year’s maintenance management experience.
