Electrical/Controls Engineer I/II/III

Purpose:

Focus is on coordinating and leading all or most activities on comprehensive and technically challenging projects/assignments. Demonstrates originality in technical work

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Primary site owner of shop floor operational technology systems including IOT devices, equipment controls and networking
  • Provide control system support to production lines including automated, semi-automated and manual processes
  • Assist maintenance technicians with controls and electrical systems troubleshooting as necessary
  • Utilize problem solving skills to determine and address root cause as needed
  • Lead and implement machine program modifications as required for safety, quality or operational and reliability improvements
  • Maintain accurate electrical and controls documentation
  • Collaborate with site engineers and other technical personnel to execute strategic projects
  • Partner with third party equipment and controls suppliers to support day-to-day operations and execute project work
  • Follow company procedures and specifications
  • Occasional after-hours phone support

 

Qualifications - External

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science – Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years engineering experience, preferably in programmable automation
  • Experience with basic electrical components such as sensors, motors, indicators, circuit protection, etc.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix, CompactLogix), motion (Kinetix), drives (PowerFlex) and visualization/operator interfaces (PanelView, FactoryTalk View Studio, ThinClient/ThinManager)
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation RsLogix and Studio programming software
  • Experience reading electrical schematics
  • Knowledge or experience with AutoCAD or Mechanical Desktop
  • Self-motivated and able to learn quickly
  • Shows an understanding of engineering and scientific methodologies and their successful application at an intermediate level of technical application.
  • Understands and applies methodologies associated with project planning
  • Communicates with vendors (i.e. to coordinate quotes, prototypes and production plans)
  • Demonstrates ability to effectively apply acquired knowledge, skills and abilities to a variety of assignments within a moderate range of technical difficulty
  • Good oral and written communication skills

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience with Ethernet networks
  • Experience with robotics (preferably Fanuc)
  • Experience working in discrete manufacturing environments
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
  • Knowledge of UL508A industrial control panels & NFPA79

Profit Sharing

During 2022, each eligible Andersen employee will receive $1,000 for each full fiscal quarter they are actively employed and fully vaccinated against COVID-19. An eligible employee hired during a quarter will receive a prorated payment based on the number of days employed during the quarter. Those eligible include fully-vaccinated regular full-time and part-time employees (at least 20 hours per week) who are not subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
