The Associate Database Administrator is an entry level database administrator who provides basic creation, configuration, upgrades, administration, monitoring, performance tuning, backup, recovery, and maintenance of databases in the organization.  They create and update documentation, analyze, test, and implement physical and virtual database designs supporting various business applications ensuring adherence to policies, procedures and standards relating to database management (cloud and on-premises).


  • Participates in operational support, maintenance and basic administration and implementation of the enterprise database environment (cloud and on-premises) leveraging agile (Kanban/scrum) practices including troubleshooting, performance monitoring, security, optimization, capacity management, technical currency, and disaster recovery / business continuity planning
  • Perform standard database administration tasks – installation, space management, backup & recovery, patching, upgrades, etc. in both Oracle and SQL Server environments.
  • Provide first-level application support: Resolve problems and answer questions related to the database and platform environment; contact vendor support when necessary; facilitate application development and client problem resolution with optimum speed and efficiency
  • Identify & implement automation opportunities and process improvements within existing enterprise database (cloud and on-premises) environments and operations
  • Maintain documentation relating to enterprise database standards, database configurations, back-up processes, recovery, security, monitoring, license management and capacity planning, disaster recovery / business continuity
  • Partners closely with IT Infrastructure and Operation teams to ensure security, availability, performance, scalability, etc…
  • Respond quickly and effectively to production issues and take responsibility for seeing those issues through to resolution
  • Clearly articulate requirements, issues, status, etc. to non-technical management personnel
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation (estimated every 3-4 weeks)
  • Engages with 3rd party support vendors as necessary


  • Bachelor's degree (Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information & Communication Technologies preferred)    
  • Recent graduate to 3+ years of RDBMS experience (MS SQL server, Oracle and other)
  • Must possess strong technical, communication and organization skills
  • Technical certifications preferred but not required
  • Basic experience implementing and supporting enterprise database (cloud or on-premises) environments and security practices.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud service
  • Ability to handle multiple simultaneous projects with aggressive deadlines
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues using Microsoft & Oracle Support and other online resources
  • Highly independent and motivated worker
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams and within a matrixed organization
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with data modeling and data mining
  • Ability to handle high stress situations
  • Basic knowledge of Database replication technologies
  • Basic understanding of distributed computing architectures
  • Basic understanding of the underlying operating systems (Windows, Unix, Linux)
  • Basic knowledge of Structured Query Language preferred but not required
  • Basic database design experience
  • General understanding of database hardware design, including disk subsystems
  • Basic project management knowledge, ability to develop, scope, schedule, communicate and deliver smaller projects

During 2022, each eligible Andersen employee will receive $1,000 for each full fiscal quarter they are actively employed and fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
