We are hiring for a Senior Extrusion Engineering Manager - This individual will lead the Engineered Materials Technology Support team at Andersen’s Bayport, MN manufacturing facility. Focusing on thermoplastic material processing i.e. extrusion, blending and compounding within four focus factories.
Thermoplastic processing plays a vital role in our operations. This team is responsible for manufacturing high-quality lineal, ensuring rigorous quality control, and driving innovation in materials and processes. This work is essential in maintaining the durability, appearance, and environmental resilience of our products. These technologies support the fastest growing product segments within Andersen, the largest window company in North America. We have scaled this business 3x over the last eight years and are continuing to grow.
This leader will develop and execute a strategy focused on operations excellence, reducing waste, increasing efficiency, and eliminating variation within our thermoplastic manufacturing processes. Strong candidates for this position will have energy and passion to improve both our production and functional processes while leading people with integrity.
This position ensures that the engineering team is operated in accordance with Andersen’s values, employee covenant, and strategic direction.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with operations leadership, RD&I, quality, maintenance, and supply chain functions to drive key initiatives that deliver optimization and transformation
- Partner with operations to support delivery of our SQDCE metrics and hold team accountable to targets
- Prioritize and align resources to strategic goals and objectives
- Develop, execute, and manage a capital investment plan for the value-streams
- Identify, recruit and onboard engineering and technician talent as needed
- Build a culture conducive to teamwork, high morale, employee satisfaction and performance
- Promote a hands-on, high involvement approach to problem solving
DIRECTION OF OTHERS:
6-8 Engineers and 14-16 Technicians
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 4-year degree in Engineering, Technology, or related field
- 4-6 years related technical experience (engineering, quality, etc.)
- 4-10 years' related management experience
- Strong, proactive communicator, effective both 1:1 and in groups
- Ability to break down technical narratives and present clearly to senior leadership
- Background in thermoplastics processing, nice-to-have
