SUMMARY:
A quality engineer for the Storm Door Wood Core product line in Luray cares about our customers, enjoys working on a high performing team of engineers/technicians, loves solving problems, and relentlessly improves processes and products. You will work with quality, manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, maintenance, product development, and our suppliers to ensure that our products conform to standards and exceed our customers’ expectations. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide quality leadership for assigned value stream/product line(s), working cross-functionally to continuously improve quality and quality systems.
- Strong knowledge of quality management and lean manufacturing principles
- Ensure conformance to control plans and capability to specifications, using statistical process control and data to identify special causes and reduce variation
- Provide reports and data on key metrics and lead targeted improvement efforts
- Drive corrective action through root cause identification and structured problem solving
- Perform or assist with PPAP, gauge R&R, pFMEA, and process mapping on assigned product line(s)
- Experience with PDCA, A3, DOE, 5-Why, Fish Bone Diagram, Lean Sigma, DMAIC
- Qualify changes to product, process, equipment, and gauges, and assist with equipment troubleshooting
- Train and coach associates on qual
- ity systems, specifications, and expectations
- Develop, improve, and evaluate test methods and associated instruments/gauges
- Perform quality investigations, root cause analysis, write CAPAs and deviations, and make assessments of non-conforming material
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- BS degree in Engineering, Technology, or related field
- A minimum of 3 years quality work experience
- Passion for solving problems and continuous improvement
- Ability to interpret quality requirements from drawings/specifications
- Strong Interpersonal and communication skills
- Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint proficiency
NICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1-3 years experience in a manufacturing, continuous process environment
- Working knowledge of quality systems, standards, measurement tools, and inspection systems.
- Knowledge of pFMEA, SPC, CAPA, process capability and Lean manufacturing principles
- Lean or Six Sigma knowledge and practice Minitab and PowerBI skills
- ASQ Quality Engineer certification
- Time management
- Mechanical inclination

In 2024, Andersen has set a profit-sharing target of $4,000 per eligible employee, prorated as appropriate. Profit sharing will be paid out in quarterly installments to provide eligible employees with payments throughout the year, with payment amounts tied to quarterly operating profit performance.
