POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for packaging material selection, design and documentation to ensure Andersen products are delivered safely and in good condition to the final customer. This role will require strong project management and cross-functional team building skills by working closely with our product design, sourcing, operations and logistics partners.
Projects for this role will include leadership and support of new product launches, cost savings opportunities, quality improvements, safety improvements along with sustainable and innovative packaging designs. This role is an enterprise role that will work with all plants across the Andersen network. The level of this position will depend upon qualifications.
Travel: 5-15%
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Help define, drive and implement packaging strategies
- Lead packaging technology projects and make recommendations to stakeholders and technical leaders as to viability of solutions to meet business needs
- Work closely with design, sourcing, operations and logistics partners to deliver cost-effective solutions that protect the product, deliver manufacturing ready processes and enable efficient delivery
- Gather and translate voice of customer (internal and external) feedback into packaging requirements
- Design, test, analyze and report on experimental studies for new packaging solutions
- Develop advanced testing protocols to replicate the product distribution environment to enable faster cycles of learning and more robust packaging solutions
- Drive improvement efforts through a solid understanding and application of statistical tools and interpretation of results for effective solutions (ie., Design of Experiments, process mapping, process capability analysis, Pugh matrix, FMEA, MSA, control plans, etc.)
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS Packaging/ Mechanical/ Industrial/ Materials Science/ or similar Engineering discipline.
- 1 - 3 years engineering or technical experience working on packaging or product design, materials development and testing
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Project management experience and experience working with collaborative, cross-functional teams
- Strong working knowledge of product development principles
NICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with 2D & 3D CAD modeling such as SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, Creo, etc.
- Direct experience in corrugated design, material properties and selection and structural analyses.
- Knowledge of foam and plastics material properties, manufacturing processes and performance.
- Familiarity with ASTM and ISTA test procedures specific to packaging performance.
- Ability to work independently managing multiple projects with varying timelines.
Must be able to lift 51 lbs.
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to work experience, education, geographic location, certifications, etc. Your recruiter can share more about the specific compensation package for your preferred role during the hiring process. Successful candidates in this role are expected to earn $68,480 - $102,720.
