ANDERSEN CORPORATION SUMMARY:
Shift your career into gear when you join our elite fleet of Andersen drivers! This local yard jockey driver opportunity will be based in a brand-new state of the art facility in Locust Grove, GA. Our Andersen team members will enjoy a climate-controlled warehouse and production environment. Our yard jockey will be operating an EV (electric vehicle) which is also climate controlled. This is a first shift opportunity, and a typical day can range from 8-10 hours. The responsibilities of the position will include working in the warehouse performing an array of duties. Forklift experience a plus but the train the right candidate.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures, and comply with all Federal, State, and local regulations for safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle
Perform frequent lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying of windows and doors of varying weights
Back trailers in and out of trailer doors
Complete trailer inspections daily
Safety inspections on equipment
Getting in and out of the EV tractor multiple times a day
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS SUMMARY:
Able to sit and remain alert while driving for extended periods of time
Able to perform frequent squatting or crouching to handle, position, and secure windows and doors
Able to perform frequent pushing or pulling of windows and doors weighing up to 100 pounds on a dolly or cart
Able to frequently carry windows and doors weighing up to 50 pounds of varying size and shape, and occasionally carry windows and doors weighing up to 100 pounds
Able to frequently reach for cargo above shoulder level, at waist level, and below waist level for maneuvering and directing the controls to operate the truck
Able to hook/unhook various commercial vehicle combinations, manually lower and raise landing gear, operate the fifth wheel lever, lock and release pintle-hooks, attach and release safety chains, open and close cargo doors, climb into and out of vehicles, fuel vehicles and check engine oil coolant levels.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License
An acceptable accident and moving violation history within Motor Vehicle Record
A minimum of 2 years of previous tractor-trailer driving experience, including winter driving
Effective communication skills
Basic skills in reading, writing and mathematics
Ability to follow directions via on-board computer system and by phone
Working knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems
Knowledge of DOT regulations governing safe driving, hours of service, vehicle inspection and maintenance
Meet the medical standards of the DOT including satisfactorily passing a DOT drug screen
