PURPOSE
The Workers' Compensation Claim Program Manager (WCCPM) is responsible for developing and implementing a claims management process throughout the enterprise. The WCCPM will oversee the claim from the beginning of the claim process through resolution including ensuring that the third party administrator is managing the claims in accordance with our best practices. The WCCPM works in tandem with the Return to Work Specialists and the Disability Manager to ensure optimal care and successful RTW/TW outcomes for both the employee and the claim. Collaborates with various departments and external vendors to ensure appropriate review and resolution of complex cases. Communicates with and advises management when dealing with complex cases and various reporting metrics to determine program performance.:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as a technical and legal expert/resource for all locations throughout the enterprise with respects to Workers’ Compensation related activities
- Establish “Best Practices” both internally and externally for all aspects of workers’ compensation claim related activities ensuring consistency throughout the enterprise
- Develop and implement a claims management process and litigation strategy for the enterprise ensuring consistency of practices both internally and externally throughout the company, resulting in the reduction of operational expenses/liability
- Ensure WC claims are being handled proactively by the TPA by reviewing the investigation, exposure, action plan and closure strategy. Ensure accuracy and adequacy of compensability by completing a thorough investigation with HR and Safety, providing direction to the third party claims administrator.
- Manage external vendors in the areas of claims administration, managed care and litigation through benchmarking, loss analysis and general performance measurement reports to ensure adherence to best practices as well as company specific claim program goals, directives, initiatives, policies and procedures.
- Conduct and oversee all claim reviews and audits to ensure effective claims handling by third party administrator
- In partnership with Risk Management and internal Legal Counsel, review and provide recommendations on reserve changes and settlement authority upon request
- Develop Metrics for the Enterprise to share with business units and Executive Committee to evaluate performance of claim management program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent years of professional experience
- 8-10 years’ experience in Workers’ Compensation Claims Management
- Extensive knowledge of standards, practices, procedures, and various laws applicable to WC claims in multiple jurisdictions
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to make timely decisions, negotiate effectively and problem solve
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Extensive computer skills including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Strong understanding of litigation management, financial and claim data analysis with the ability to produce reports and presentations for executive management
