DEFINITION:

Supplier Development is a proactive & reactive business process that aims to increase the performance of the supply base to achieve Andersen’s short and/or long-term supply needs. Moreover, Supplier Development promotes ongoing improvements that are intended to benefit both Andersen and our suppliers. These efforts are focused on improving Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) issues with our suppliers to meet Andersen’s expectations. Supplier Development focuses on systematic improvement to attain sustained performance. 


Overall Purpose of the Role:

This role will work closely with our suppliers to ensure that products are delivered on time (>95% on-time and in-full), with high quality and at optimal cost by blending Engineering, Supply Chain, and Continuous Improvement best practices. Work will be performed in a way that compliments supplier capabilities and strengthens our partnership while reducing risk. Work will be highly collaborative with our suppliers and plants to identify and solve problems, improving overall operations performance, and developing robust processes between Andersen and our suppliers which serve to benefit both parties.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Improve Andersen’s supply base by working with our suppliers to help them improve their processes and delivery performance through Kaizen or other appropriate problem-solving methodologies.
  • On and off site helping our suppliers and internal process owners identify and solve problems with the product flow, ensuring the system meets delivery expectations.
  • Work with our suppliers to improve their manufacturing processes for improving SQDC.
  • Promote and practice the use of Lean, DMAIC, and/or Quality tools for continuous improvement such as process mapping, value stream mapping, process capability, C&E matrix, fishbone diagram, FMEA, MSA, DOE, Gage R&R, control plan.
  • Promotes Total Costs and Lean Manufacturing principles, with a focus on creating value and eliminating waste.
  • Drive the development of underperforming supplier products and processes while partnering with the commodity teams via effective project management.
  • Implement continuous improvement projects (Lean, Process Capability, Six Sigma) to drive performance improvements.
  • Reduce supply base risk by the effective application of focused improvements.
  • Improve materials management competency in supply base.
  • Targeted assessment of key supplier site metrics (may need to help create appropriate metrics) to ensure alignment with Andersen’s requirements and proactively identify potential risk factors.
  • Demonstrate strong and effective leadership across multiple functions, communicate to multiple levels, and form relationships/trust quickly.
  • Facilitate efforts between project teams and category teams to drive production readiness, and drive waste reduction.
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations of suppliers.
  • Collaborates with delivery partners to determine appropriate project focus, using available data from observation, queries, process data, and working partner input.
  • Demonstrates continued personal growth and development.
  • Develops and maintains a strong working relationship with RD&I, Operations Management and other Business Partners.

QUALIFICATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of a BS/BA degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Technology, Management or equivalent training and expertise.
  • 5 years of experience in engineering, supply chain or related fields.
  • Strong bias for action and results orientation
  • Must demonstrate the ability to be able to communicate both written and verbal to all levels within the organization as well as externally to suppliers.
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Individuals must be self-driven and self-motivated to learn and use that knowledge to produce results
  • Hybrid work environment, up to 50% travel required

In 2023, Andersen has set a profit-sharing target of $4,000 per eligible employee, prorated as appropriate. Profit sharing will be paid out in quarterly installments to provide eligible employees with payments throughout the year, with payment amounts tied to quarterly operating profit performance.
