PURPOSE:
As a member of the Litigation & IP Team in the Legal Department, the Litigation Paralegal coordinates and oversees activities related to claims and lawsuits asserted against Andersen Corporation and its subsidiaries in coordination with the Senior Paralegal. Will evaluate claims and negotiate resolutions directly with homeowners or their counsel. Will also partner with internal teams at Andersen to gather information related to claims and keep business teams updated on the progress of litigation.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage claims and lawsuits as assigned. Assignments may be based on business unit, product line or issue so that this position can gain expertise in particular areas.
- Collaborate with internal teams.
- Work with our insurers and insurance adjustors.
- Collect, analyze, and organize necessary internal and external documents and information.
- Coordinate with outside counsel, internal witnesses, and experts in alignment with Senior Paralegal and Assistant General Counsel.
- Negotiate resolutions to claims.
- Prepare claims response letters, settlement agreements, and releases.
- Prepare responses to requests from federal, state, and local agencies.
- Coordinate work with the Senior Paralegal, and the Assistant General Counsel for Litigation & IP.
- Perform other projects depending on the needs of the Legal Department.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree and 2-5 years of paralegal experience or claims management experience; and/or other appropriate combination of education and experience.
- Claims management experience as a paralegal, insurance adjustor, or customer service representative is beneficial.
- Must have proficient writing and communication skills.
- Establishes good interpersonal relationships with others.
- Good organizational & coordination skills.
- Proficient computer skills, including spreadsheet, presentation, word processing, email and associated software.
- Ability to manage multiple and/or time dependent activities
- Flexibility, cooperation.
- Customer focus.

In 2023, Andersen has set a profit-sharing target of $4,000 per eligible employee, prorated as appropriate. Profit sharing will be paid out in quarterly installments to provide eligible employees with payments throughout the year, with payment amounts tied to quarterly operating profit performance.
