PURPOSE: 
This role offers an exciting opportunity to be involved with innovative solutions to help grow and develop production in Dubuque.

PRIMARY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • PLC programming and operator screen development.
  • Design/modify/debug existing control systems.
  • Support the maintenance team with advanced controls troubleshooting.
  • Work with vendors to assure specifications and code requirements are followed.
  • Write machinery control functional specifications.
  • Documentation of electrical design changes.
  • Provide and/or coordinate detailed quotes/estimates for controls work.
  • Conduct machine operational testing during Factory Acceptance Testing and Site Acceptance Testing.
  • Continuous improvement and cost reduction projects.
  • Design the power and control wiring of industrial automation equipment.
  • Support electrical safety in the plant.
  • Deploy and maintain technologies and controls such as IIoT devices, vision systems, sensors, PLC’s, and digital applications.
  • Interface with Advanced Design, Product Engineering, and other business partners on the design for manufacturability, process capability, and production builds of new product or product revisions.
  • Project management skills; deliver safe, effective, sustainable, and reliable solutions (Project planning, approval process, equipment specification, budget, preventative maintenance, acceptance plans, design review, safety assessments, capital request).
  • Participative team approach to problem solving and root cause analysis with associates, supervisors, maintenance, Value Stream Managers, and peers.
  • Develop electrical print packages, programs, and layouts.
  • Assess current vs. future electrical technology capabilities.
  • Travel requirements: Less than 10% for training, corporate visits, and vendors sites.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, highly motivated, organized, and self-disciplined.
  • Experience with programming and troubleshooting Allen Bradley PLC, HMI, VFD, and servos.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and panel layout drawings.
  • Experience with industrial safety devices and safety systems.
  • Ability to understand and create wiring schematics.
  • Ability to create bills of material and select necessary control components.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new software, hardware, applications, and technologies.
  • Research, develop, and implement innovative solutions to add business value.
  • Comfortable with hands-on work.
  • Proficient with the use of common electrical testing tools.
  • Interest in working in a manufacturing setting.

Exceptional Candidates:
  • Technical or practical knowledge of robotics, automation principles, IIoT devices, vision systems, industrial controls, and/or machine to machine connectivity.
  • ThinClient/ThinManager experience.
  • Experience programming in FactoryTalk View ME/SE and Ignition by Inductive Automation or other SCADA/HMI software.
  • Experience with RS Logix 5000, RS Linx, and Keyence Safety.
  • Fanuc robot programming and troubleshooting.
  • TUV functional safety engineer.
  • Equipment design experience with UL 508A, NFPA 79, and ISO 13849.
  • Workplace electrical safety based on NFPA 70E.
  • Experience with the National Electric Code (NFPA 70).
  • Arc flash protection and short circuit analysis with SKM software.
  • Basic knowledge of pneumatic control systems.
  • Industrial networking design and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with IEC 61131-3 programming languages: Ladder logic, Function block diagram, Structured text, Sequential function chart.
  • Exposure to Beckhoff Automation, B&R, Mitsubishi, Banner, and Siemens automation products and development software.
  • Familiarity with structured programming languages such as Java Script, C/C++, Node-Red, VB, or Java.
  • AutoCAD or E-PLAN wiring diagram creation.
  • Control panel layout and design skills with thermal and spatial awareness.
  • Troubleshooting with NFPA and IEC wiring diagrams.
  • PID Control Tuning Understanding and Experience.
  • Experience collecting data, performing statistical analyses, and making sound data-driven decisions.
  • Mechanical aptitude.

PROFIT SHARING:
In 2023, Andersen has set a profit-sharing target of $4,000 per eligible employee, prorated as appropriate. Profit sharing will be paid out in quarterly installments to provide eligible employees with payments throughout the year, with payment amounts tied to quarterly operating profit performance.
