Job Description – Electrical CNC/PLC Technologist I-III

Renewal by Andersen is seeking an Electrical CNC/PLC Technologist at our Cottage Grove, MN location.

PURPOSE:

Entry-level, non-engineering role in quality, testing, operations, or other technical support area. Primary focus is on learning to be a key member of a technical team. Work may be in a laboratory, test area, product documentation, information team, manufacturing area or pilot plant. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Presents technical information or proposals to team members
  • Work with engineers/technologists/technicians to develop and evaluate materials, parts, product, or process while offering insights on their improvement. Conduct testing related to materials, parts, product, or process for improvements
  • Ability to provide technical support and services to engineers, maintenance, and operations
  • Perform root cause analysis with other technical employees, suppliers, and outside experts
  • Performs technical support for assigned work area. Develop and report recommendations for
  • improvements to technical issues
  • Coordinate laboratory, field, or pre-production testing
  • Demonstrates how technology can help meet customer requirements
  • Troubleshoot problems with other technical employees, suppliers, and outside experts
  • Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of the respective functional area
  • Will report through the electrical engineering team structure
  • Ensure work is performed in a manner that minimizes downtime
  • Coach, guide, and train less experienced staff on technical topics
  • 2-year technical degree and equivalent combination of formalized technical education and experience
  • Minimum of 5 years within automation/electrical field
  • Strong aptitude in process improvement and problem-solving
  • Strong math, science, mechanical and experimental skills
  • Knowledge and ability to interact with Rockwell Automation PLCs and PLC software
  • Hands-on experience with Rockwell Automation motion control applications
  • Human Machine Interface (HMI) skills including archiving, restoration and modifying
  • Must be able to read & interpret electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical drawings for equipment
  • Troubleshoot motors-single phase, three phase, and direct current
  • Solid understanding of variable frequency drives (VFD) particularly PowerFlex 520 series
  • Follows all appropriate safety procedures including Lockout/Tag out

·       Position requires after-hours (on-call) control system support for 24/7 production on a rotational basis.  May be waived if working 2nd or 3rd shift.

QUALIFICATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Troubleshoot process automation problems
  • Desired - Experience with CNC platforms and, knowledge of and ability to modify CNC G-code
  • Desired - Fanuc robotics troubleshooting, maintaining and minor modifications

PROFIT SHARING:

During 2022, each eligible Andersen employee will receive $1,000 for each full fiscal quarter they are actively employed and fully vaccinated against COVID-19. An eligible employee hired during a quarter will receive a prorated payment based on the number of days employed during the quarter. Those eligible include fully-vaccinated regular full-time and part-time employees (at least 20 hours per week) who are not subject to a collective bargaining agreement. These and other terms and conditions of Andersen’s 2022 Profit Sharing Plan, including the definition of full vaccination against COVID-19, are subject to change or termination without notice.
